christmas party
Christmas here in the rural communities of Peru is much more simple than elsewhere, here they have no miracle on 43rd st, no big hype to buy useless things. The tradition here is local business put on Chocolatadas, this is hot chocolate parties. Normally a business will cook up a caldron of hot chocolate and set up at their door. The days before Christmas all the children with their mug in hand run to form lines to get their cup of hot chocolate and bread. Larger business sometimes give toys. The classic is a doll for the girls and a toy truck for the boys. This is classic in most all villages across Peru.
christmas party
Since my business operates in the country farmlands, we make our chocolatada together with a large tourist restaurant Alhambra that is near our base. They have a great place to hold the party and both our teams of employees pitch in to make a special day for the local children. The Alhambra cooks take pride in cooking up the best hot chocolate, we send out for special sweet bread, and together buy toys for 500 to 600 children.
clown
Since we have the children all together as they drink their hot chocolate waiting for their gifts, we put on a show, a clown does magic and plays games that the children would normally never get to participate in. Dance and Singing songs, Jokes, Magic tricks, but most of all the Clown gets the kids all laughing and Happy for a day.
